Simpson packing sources oranges from around 40 growers in the Riverland region. The largest supplier, with almost 25 per cent of total production, is the Simpson's own orchards, Simpson Citrus Pty Ltd and Millewa Citrus Pty Ltd. These two horticultural growers specialise in growing citrus products. The main crops are oranges (with a range of varieties), but the companies also produce lemons, mandarins and grapes. Its key market is the US export maket.

Quality management systems have been developed for the growing and citrus packing operations. The packhouse is accredited to AQIS Certification Arrangements and is SQF2000 HACCP accredited.

Simpson Brothers Orchards have been leaders amongst citrus growers in developing a tailored on-farm QA system. The Manual has been adopted by a range of growers in the region and includes details on management records, harvest, cultural practices, and pests and diseases. Nevertheless, more co-ordination work is required, to ensure all growers adopt the system.
