Drum Major

Don Riddle is an ex policeman and you don't argue with him. He demands and gets a high standard from the band on the march.

BAND NEWS

So, we went to Mount Gambier to compete in their annual band contest and were very pleased with the result . We came fourth in "D" Grade and feel we succeeded by just being there. It was a tremendous experience and we learnt a lot about the whole competition besides having a really great time.
We travelled in comfort in Renmark's Townsends Bus with our own member Ted driving. We thank him for a safe and very enjoyable trip.

Marching in the Christmas Pageant with 20,000 people watching was awesome, and then partaking in a massed march of 16 Bands was another memory to bring home.

Listening to music played by "A" Grade Bands was inspiring and a standard for us to aim for.

Christmas season is always a busy time for us as we are the only brass band in the Riverland and popular for partaking in Christmas Pageants and providing the music for outdoor Carol singing .
That means we play for 3 or 4 pageants and at least 4 carol nights in the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas Eve.

We then take our annual leave of 3 weeks ready to start the New Year with Australia Day ceremonies for Loxton and Renmark.

With the bookings we already have for 2005, it looks like we are in for another busy and interesting year.

President
Bill Hewitt-Dower and his wife Cathy played in Pipe Bands for many years before joining Riverland Brass.
