Dakota House is
an accommodation service for 5 people who have a mild to
moderate intellectual disability. The House is a
spacious facility with six bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, dining
room, kitchen, lounge, an office and staff
retreat. The house is
staffed each weekday from 4 pm to 8 am the following
day. All resdidents attend a day activity, be it Orana
Workshop or Day Options. On weekends and public holidays
the facility is staffed 24 hours a day. The residents
have the choice to attend the various recreation amd
sporting activities offered by RRRSI.
Tenancy Support
Riverland Respite provides a range
of support options for people living independently in
the community.
Assistance
can be provided in the following
ways:-
· Independent
Living Skills
· Budgeting
· Shopping
· Cooking
Tenancy support
gives clients the opportunity to increase their
independence, make informed decisions (taking into
account dignity of risk) and being accepted in community
life generally.
Community
Access
Families can
have their child access scouts, guides, swimming lessons
etc. by using a respite worker to support him/her to
attend. In turn, families are receiving “respite’. All access costs
are the responsibility of the
family
