Models - When it goes wrong!

Here's something that you don't see very often!

This is a 2 stage rocket, and the booster exploded when the button was pushed.

In the centre is the booster stage with smoke from both ends! Streaking across the ground is the burning fuel piece. At the top is the rocket, accelerating quickly.

This flight, the recovery parachute wasn't deployed.
This is the end result.

On this launch, the booster stage dislodged the nose cone when igniting the second stage, which changed the aero-dynamics!

The latest incident

This looks worse than it really is. The cause was trying to take off on grass, motor not developing enough power, no wind, trees all around the oval and I just ran out of ideas. The camera was not damaged, but it took dad and I a week to do the repairs. It was back working the following weekend.

North Coast - SA 14 Archer

The result when the recovery charge does not fire. This was the Archers first flight. I flew it on a G62-4W motor, it flew to approximately 1000ft and descended at an extremly rapid rate. The Archer was 5ft long.

The rocket has been mostly repaired and will be ready for flight shortly.
