Chapter I ... "I heard you!"

“I heard that conversation between you and Sirius – ” said Jade softly to Professor Lupin, as she sat down on her bed. Jade was a laid-back witch, with olive skin, long black-brown hair which was waist-length, a figure that looked like it came from a supermodel and a taste for Teachers ... she was the same age as Professor Lupin, and she was an Auror with a dark secret.

It was morning, and around two weeks before Harry was to arrive at Sirius’ house. Jade had to sleep in the same room as Professor Lupin since there weren't many rooms.

“What?!” gasped Lupin, wheeling around.

“You two were just there,” said Jade innocently, pointing at the spot where Lupin and Sirius had stood the previous night, a metre away from her bed.

Lupin looked into Jade’s pure green eyes – so beautiful Lupin heard himself think – he had always loved Jade, her soft eyes, her looks, everything really.

“Remus?” Jades voice brought him back to earth. “Um ... why were you talking about me?” she asked softly.

“I thought you were sleeping ...” Lupin said, clearly embarrassed. Sirius and he had been discussing Lupin’s obsession with Jade.

“Well, I wasn’t.” Jade said shortly. “Why were you talking about me?” There was a bit more bite in her voice now. “Why?

“You were listening, you should know!” said Lupin, not daring to say what Sirius and he had been discussing.

“I couldn't make out any of it, but I heard my name!” answered Jade, trying to make sure no-one in the next rooms could hear her.

“Tell me ... please?” Walking up to Lupin so there was only a few inches between them, and looking in Lupin’s eyes – oooohhh! Lupin’s eyes! they’re so pretty! thought Jade.

“I – I – er –” Lupin stuttered – he couldn’t say it.

“Yes?”

“I – um –”

“LUPIN CAN YOU GET DOWN HERE PLEASE!!!!” shouted Mrs Weasley, as the doorbell and Mrs Black’s screams started up again.

Chapter 2 ... "It could happen!"

After that close call, Lupin was avoiding Jade, even though he was tempted. Lupin tried everything to make himself stop loving Jade: thinking over why he loved her—um... she’s the same age as me—no that doesn't help... She’s so beautiful... It was the time Lupin was dreading: time for bed.

“Remus?” Lupin was sitting on his bed slouched over with his back facing the door, Jade had just come into the room.

“Oh, something wrong?” she asked as she came and sat down next to him. He could feel the warmth from her body. He wanted to take her hand in his, but he resisted. He smiled to himself: she had lavender perfume on; she’d had rose on yesterday.

“No, nothing’s wrong.” said Lupin straightening up to look at Jade.

She had a narrow cut across the cheek—it didn’t seem to be bleeding—it wasn’t there this morning. “What happened?” asked Lupin abruptly, trying not to sound worried.

Jade shrugged. “Just a little disagreement with a relative of Sirius’...”

She looked curiously at Lupin for a moment and said slowly, “You sound concerned—”

“No I don’t!” Lupin said quickly, looking back at his feet.

Then two of Jade’s warm, soft fingers touched his chin and were slowly moving him to face her. She’s gonna to kiss me! She’s gonna to kiss me! It was like his brain had come to a complete stop.

Then she pinned him on the bed, and said aggressively “What were you and Sirius talking about? And if you don’t tell me, I’m gonna make sure you don’t get to sleep for weeks at a time!”

Lupin’s brain had fixed itself by now, and he had no trouble remembering that he was going to turn into a werewolf in a few days. He most definitely didn’t want her around for that.

Lupin sighed. Like Jade would kiss me anyway! He finally looked up at her, but couldn’t help noticing that she looked even prettier when she was determined.

“All right!” he sighed. “I’ll tell you.”

Clearly backing down, Jade quickly got off him and asked him to start from the beginning. It took an hour to tell the whole, detailed story, while Jade was sitting cross-legged on Lupin’s bed with her head tilted to one side ... If Lupin didn’t look at her it was easier to tell her what happened. Only when he had finished, did he look at her.

She was smiling. Lupin was taken aback by that. Then she abruptly go off his bed and was about to get into hers when Lupin asked carefully, “It could happen, couldn’t it?”

Jade turned around, slowly, and said in a mysterious voice, “Maybe...”

She smiled at him once again, in a tantalizing way, and got into bed and said nothing else.

Lupin got into bed as well, closed his eyes and smiled at his pillow thinking, It could happen! It could happen...

Chapter 3 ... Werewolf

Lupin awoke the next morning, to find that Jade’s bed was empty. This was shocking, because she always had to be woken up by Lupin; if she had her way, she would sleep all day, and party all night.

Lupin walked down stairs to the kitchen, to see if Jade was there, but she wasn’t. Sirius was eating toast and drinking tea, when Lupin came in.

“Where’s Jade?” Lupin asked Sirius.

“Dunno.”

“What do you mean ÔDunno’ ? ”

“I mean ÔDunno’. ” Sirius said stubbornly.

Lupin plopped himself down on a chair opposite Sirius, and sighed.

“Don’t worry, Remus! Just tell her that you’re a— ” just then Jade Apparated next to the stove, with a soft Ôpop’.

“Hi guys!” said Jade happily as she walked out the kitchen.

A few seconds passed, then Lupin bolted after her. He found the bedroom door ajar, so he went in, and found her lying on her bed, looking up at the ceiling.

“Jade? Can I talk to you?”

“You are now. So why stop?” she said, continuing to look blankly at the ceiling.

“Okay.” Lupin said, sitting down on her bed.

Jade sat up, and looked at him in a polite but curious way. Lupin looked at his feet.

“I’m a — ... I’m a — ... ” Lupin stuttered.

A few minutes passed...

“You’re a — What? ” Jade said in an annoyed voice.

Lupin closed his eyes and whispered, “I’m a Werewolf.”

Chapter 4 ... "Believe me!"

Chapter 4 “Believe Me!”

Lupin had opened his eyes, just as he finished saying “Werewolf”.

Jade’s mouth was hanging open. A long silence followed Lupin’s words. Then Jade stuttered:

“You — you can’t be! You just can’t be!”

“I am.” said Lupin with disgust. He looked down at her hands that were neatly placed on her knees. They were shaking.

He sighed, took her hand in his, looking at it like a rare treasure, and said:

“Look, it wasn’t my fault. Don’t hate me for it, please?” Lupin said in a strangled voice so unlike his own. He looked mad, his eyes were popping slightly and he was kneeling at Jade’s bedside.

“I — I don’t know ... But you’re so nice! You can’t be one!” said Jade, yanking her hand out of his grasp.

“Jade! Please! Listen to me!” he said, in that same strangled voice. He looked absolutely crazy now.

He sat back on her bedside, and slid one of his hands slowly around the back of her neck, and slowly pulled her toward him; as his nose grazed her face, he kissed her.

It was a long, slow kiss.

When Lupin finally let go of Jade, she looked dazed. She opened her eyes slowly, as Lupin said:

“That was a kiss from a werewolf.”

Jade smiled at him, slid one of her hands around his neck, and whispered:

“I still love you.” And they kissed... again and again...

Chapter 5 ... Wolfsbane Potion

Lupin awoke that evening to the sound of Sirius pounding on the door, and shouting, “Remus! Remus! Get out here please!”

Lupin looked around the room. He and Jade were lying on Lupin’s bed; Jade had her arms wrapped around Lupin’s waist, and her head neatly resting on his shoulder.

“REMUS!”

“I’M COMING!” Lupin bellowed.

He looked down at Jade and smiled. She was still sleeping. Lupin envied her: she can sleep through anything! he thought.

He carefully removed her arms from around his waist, and put a pillow under her head where his shoulder was, and moved to the bedroom door, rubbing sleep from his eyes.

“Yes?” he said in an annoyed fashion to Sirius.

“Dumbledore wants to see you in the kitchen... Alone.” Sirius said casually. He looked from Jade sleeping soundlessly, to Lupin, and said to him:

“Hav’n’ a good time?”

“I guess so. I’d better get to the kitchen.” said Lupin, as he closed the door quietly.

Lupin made is way downstairs to the kitchen, where he found Dumbledore sitting quietly at the kitchen table, with two smoking goblets in front of him.

“Please sit.” said Dumbledore pleasantly, motioning for Lupin to sit opposite him. Lupin did.

“As I’m sure you know...” Dumbledore started off, sounding like he’d practised this many times, “In two days time, there will be a full moon. I have a goblet of wolfsbane potion here for you. There will be a large cauldron in the pantry, full of the wolfsbane potion. Please take it when you can.”

And with that, Dumbledore gave Lupin one of the smoking goblets, and motioned for him to drink it.

He drank a mouthful and pulled a face.

“Yep, still tastes the same!” said Lupin, finishing the goblet of wolfsbane potion, and standing up.

“Please get Miss Jade, and tell her I would like a word.” said Dumbledore politely.

Lupin looked puzzled, and then the other smoking goblet caught his eye.

“What’s that for?” Lupin asked Dumbledore, pointing at the goblet.

“It’s — It’s for — next time you need to take some potion.” said Dumbledore.

Not at all convinced, Lupin left the kitchen, and went up to the bedroom, and opened the door slowly, and found Jade sitting on his bed, brushing her hair, with her long legs hanging over the side of the bed facing the door. She smiled at him. He walked over to her, and gave her a swift kiss on the cheek, and said:

“Dumbledore wants a word.”

“Oh! Why?”

“Dunno.” Lupin said softly, planting another quick kiss on Jade’s lips. She smiled, then walked to the door, which was open, winked mysteriously at Lupin, and left the room. Lupin sighed, and slumped back on his bed, feeling very happy indeed!

Chapter 6 ... "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!"

Jade walked down the kitchen stairs, and found Dumbledore sitting at the kitchen table, with a smoking goblet in front of him.

“Please sit.” Dumbledore said pleasantly. Jade sat opposite him, and looked curious.

“As I’m sure you know...” Dumbledore started off, sounding like he’d practised this many times, “In two days time, there will be a full moon. I have a goblet of wolfsbane potion here for you. There will be a large cauldron in the pantry, full of the wolfsbane potion. Please take it when you can... And I am very disappointed that you haven't told Remus that you are a werewolf — ”

“It’s been difficult!” Jade said over Dumbledore.

Dumbledore looked at Jade in a don’t—interrupt—me—while —I’m—talking way.

“Sorry.” said Jade in a small voice.

“I would like to know why you aren’t telling him that you are a werewolf.” said Dumbledore in a very serious voice. “You love him and he loves you. You should be able to trust each other, and tell each other your deepest secrets! And before you start shouting, please think about why you’ve only told me about you being a werewolf.” said Dumbledore.

“Um... ” Jade said to herself. Jade wasn’t sure why she hadn’t told Lupin. Probably because she didn’t want to lose her job. What if the Ministry finds out?! Jade heard herself think. What if Remus tells someone, and they tell the Ministry?!

“The Ministry won’t find out.” said Dumbledore.

Jade didn’t ask how he found out what she was thinking.

“And I think Remus will only tell Sirius. You must tell Remus before the full moon.” said Dumbledore dramatically.

Jade looked angry for a moment. Then she grabbed the goblet of wolfsbane potion, drank it in one gulp, got up from her chair and was about to leave the room, when she roared angrily:

“If I lose my job, IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT!”
