Winemakers Notes Winemaker - Frank J Newman Winemakers have long held "The Crescent" area of Renmark in high regard. This wine demonstrates why this is so, particularly in the case of red varieties. The newly born Charnwood Vineyard from "The Crescent" area has grown Cabernet Sauvignon fruit that has produced a wine of some elegance. To this has been married Merlot from a vineyard in the Mudgee area of New South Wales. This proves that the mixed marriage of variety and region can work since the wine demonstrates a spicy mixed fruit aroma that is immediately attractive and complimented by subtle oak notes. These characteristics follow through to the elegant palate which has length and persistence. The wine leaves the mouth with a balanced texture and drying ripe tannins. It should be at its peak in 2 - 3 years.
