Membership
Membership
of the library is free, but proof of identity with a current
address is required at registration. A parent or guardian
must sign a guarantee for borrowers under 18 years of age.
You may borrow as soon as you complete your membership form
and your membership card is ready (usually immediately). If
you are temporarily visiting the area, you can still join
the library as a restricted borrower.

Borrowing
Information
Most
items are available for borrowing. There are, however, some
Reference Books which are kept for use in the library. For

All
items borrowed may be changed as often as you wish and there
is a total loan limit of 20 items but you will be limited
to 2 CD's and 2 DVD's at any one time. There is a 28 day loan
period, except for:
• Video Cassettes - 7 days
• CD's - 2 weeks
• DVD's - 4 days
Please bring your borrower's card with you each time you wish
to borrow.

Catalogue
(OPAC's)
A
computer catalogue (OPAC) is located at the top of the
ramp for your use. The OPAC lists all items in the Barmera
Public Library and Berri Library and Information Centre.
You can also view the newest items to hit the shelves.

Reservations
Please ask library staff to reserve
any book out on loan that you wish to read. We will
contact you when the book is available.

Loan
Extensions
If you wish to extend the loan period of the
items you have borrowed, please telephone the library on 8588
2872 or ask at the circulation desk when you next visit.

Repairs
Please
do not attempt to repair any damaged item yourself.
Inform the library staff who will organise its repair.

Overdue
Items
Borrowers
are responsible for lost or damaged items. A reminder notice
will be sent for items not returned by the due date. If the
items are not returned a Tax Invoice will then be sent and
a compulsory account processing fine of $2.00 will also apply.

Inter-Library
Loans
If
we don’t have a book that you want, we can probably
get it for you from another library. The library is
part of the State wide Public Libraries Automated Information
Network (PLAIN) and books which are in other SA public
libraries are available to Barmera Borrowers. Just ask
a staff member.

Photocopying
A
photocopier is available for use at 20 cents a copy (incl.
GST). Receipts will be supplied on request. Please note that
we DO NOT give discount if you provide your own paper.
